The management and works council have finalized an agreement on a reconciliation of interests and a social plan, which was shared with the affected employees during a meeting on Thursday, February 6, 2025, according to the company. Following the closure announcement, regional companies and those from neighboring Switzerland reached out with job offers for employees in Schopfheim. Würth Elektronik facilitated an internal job exchange, successfully placing nearly all trainees and about 50 employees. Products that were previously manufactured in Schopfheim will now be produced at other Würth Elektronik locations in Germany. "The production facilities in Niedernhall and Rot-am-See will concentrate on industries and applications that require more complex and customized printed circuit boards, which are strategically manufactured in Europe," stated Würth. The closure of Schopfheim is attributed to "the current severe crisis in the European PCB industry, marked by a significant decline in incoming orders." The company assures that comprehensive PCB-related services will continue. "The consolidation of production sites ensures stable capacity utilization at other German plants and supports a financially stable future for Würth Elektronik Circuit Board Technology," the company stated. Founded in 1971, Würth Elektronik Circuit Board Technology employs 1,000 people, serves 4,000 customers, and reports an annual turnover in the "three-digit million range." Production now occurs at three sites in Germany and with partners in Asia.
